I am presently typing this blog on my iPad, as this week the Springboard staff received their iPads ready for our site to take part in the 1:1 project. It’s so exciting, although I must say that the first time I heard about the project, I felt a little nervous as it’s going to really revolutionise the way my staff teach and the way our young people learn. The next steps for us will be to continue training ready for the roll out to the students. So exciting!
We finished our week with the Macmillan coffee morning. As you can see from the photos, the staff did a really good job and we raised over £60.
I will be sending out the next dates for Children In Need Day on our website and via the blogs. Friday also saw a group go out to MAHDLO to attend a taster session around climbing. This was run by Mr Molloy and the tutor was an old friend of mine – Alan Keane from the UP PROJECTS team. The students really enjoyed the session (photos to follow next week).
In the up and coming weeks, I will be handing over our weekly blogs to the staff. As we have some new staff members, I thought it would be really useful for them to give families and carers an insight into who they are and what they teach.
The highlight of my week came when I received an email from a parent which read,
“I just wanted to say a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart. My son tells me he absolutely loves it, has made some friends and loves all the teachers also.”
It’s brilliant to see this recognition, although I must say, it’s just our job and that’s what we do!!!
So that’s all from me this week – for some reason I thought half term was 3 weeks away but it’s actually 4. Just as well, there’s a lot to get in before Halloween!
Have a good week,
Mrs Tootill
Head of Springboard Project
