Hi all,
This week on the Springboard Project blog we will be looking at all things Maths that have been going on at the school.
For me the week started off completing a training day with the North West Maths Hub team. In this training we looked at different ways of engaging students with Maths topics and also examined the different ways students approach topics and questions. I look forward to using some of the activities with the groups very soon.
In classes this week we have been continuing to develop our data handling skills, looking at representing data and analysing data, including finding the average (Mean, Mode and Median).
Throughout the week we have looked at this topic in a variety of ways, including using playing cards (higher or lower and then working out the average of the cards on the table.) Completing cross numbers, using given data on the interactive board, we have even been picking our best ten pin bowling team using the players statistics.
The students have excelled with this topic and looked to challenge themselves.
As we finish up with our data topic we will be moving to geometry and beginning to look at topics such as area, perimeter, volume and measure.
Next week the Springboard we will be rolling out the 1-2-1 iPad project to the students, each of them will be getting their own iPad to be used in lessons.
Have a good weekend,
Mr. Ward
