All About Maths…

This weeks blog is focused on maths at Springboard Project.

In the last academic year we had some amazing success at Springboard with students coming out with a variety of qualifications including Functional Skills, Entry Level Certificate and GCSE.

At Springboard Project, students have access to a minimum of 4 maths sessions a week with catch up and intervention sessions available also. This allows us to follow a mastery model of learning and delivery to ensure that the students develop a full understanding of maths skills.

This year has started off fantastically well, the students have been in great spirits and all eager to get into their lessons and continue their development.

This half term will be focused on engaging students into their maths lessons. Some classes have started to build their foundation skills looking at different aspects of number, whilst others have began looking at algebra and substitution.

The students have shown a great attitude to learning and have quickly developed a great rapport with each other. In some classes students have started supporting each other with peer teaching and learning becoming common place. This was a great way of the students supporting their class mates and also demonstrating their understanding of their own skills.

Nurture Group

This week the nurture group have been working on putting together a Macmillan coffee morning which has involved them using their ICT skills to create eye catching leaflets. They have put together an insert for the school blog and liaised with the school catering team in order to put together a menu of mouth-watering cakes and treats (which also include a vegan and gluten free option) that will all be available on the day. This has helped them to develop their teamwork, communication and problem solving skills and will go towards their ASDAN personal development award.

Art and Well-being

The pupils have shown excellent engagement over the last two weeks with the Creative Art option using multi media and have really wowed us with the creative pieces that they have been completing. They have a real talent and should be proud of themselves. Keep up the excellent work.

Springboard Macmillan Coffee Morning

Come and join us for our Springboard Macmillan Coffee morning on Thursday 23rd September starting 9:30am and finishing at 12pm.

Help us to support people living with cancer to live life as fully as they can and pop down for a piece of cake and a hot drink at Spring Board Project. All payments will go to the Macmillan Coffee Morning fund and we can help to put a smile on someone’s face. It would be nice to help support this charity whilst also getting to know the families of our pupils.

Due to Covid restrictions we will be staggering the arrival times and can only allow 30 minutes per form group and family.

Below are the arrival times for the families of each form:

SPT1 9:30-10

SPT2 10:-10:30

SPT3 10:30- 11

SPT4 11-11:30

SPT5 11:30- 12

If there are any issues or questions please give us a call.

We look forward to seeing you!

Hope you all have a great weekend.
